The Law School Personal Statement Workshop has been canceled this evening due to low registration.

PERSONAL STATEMENT REVIEW

The Office of Preprofessional Advising staff members are available to give feedback on personal statements. For current undergraduates, consultants are also available at the Undergraduate Writing Program, 310 Philosophy, to work with you one-on-one. This is a free service. Alumni/ae can receive feedback on their personal statements by sending their statement as an Word attachment (saved as Last Name, First Name Law School PS) to Niki Cunningham at njc2001@columbia.edu or Michael Dunn at mkd2010@columbia.edu. In the subject line please include your first and last name and Law School Personal Statement.

Mentor Program
We are seeking undergraduate students to participate in the Thurgood Marshall Mentor Program, which aims to match our Thurgood Marshall alumni and undergraduates from our partner schools with law students from various schools in New York City. LSAT/Law School Prep Series
Please save the date for our annual two-day series, co-sponsored by more than a dozen LSAT Prep companies and fourteen regional law schools, which provides students with presentations and panels to help prepare them for taking the LSAT and applying to law school.  Representatives from LSAT prep companies provide materials and presentations with sample exams and strategy sessions while the panels focus on selecting and applying to law school, financing law school, and expectations and recommendations for first-year students.

Obama for America - Headquarters 2012 Spring Internship Program

Obama for America is looking for motivated and enthusiastic leaders who are interested in campaign work for our Headquarters Spring 2012 Internship Program in Chicago, IL. Our spring internship is an opportunity for your students and graduates to gain hands-on experience with a United States presidential campaign and strengthen their skills as future leaders.  Interns will also learn firsthand about the grassroots efforts that drives our campaign and how what we do here at headquarters facilitates our actions on the ground.

We have several departments on the campaign and internships will be available in each of them. The application deadline is November 1st, 2011. Interviews and selections will take place shortly after the deadline.  Applicants will be informed no later than November 25th, 2011. The program will run from January 17, 2011, to May 18, 2011.

Interested students and graduates are encouraged to apply.

Harvard Kennedy School- Public Policy and Leadership Conference - February 23-26, 2012

Harvard Kennedy School - Public Policy and Leadership Conference 2012 The Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University is pleased to announce the Twelfth Annual Harvard Public Policy and Leadership Conference (PPLC). The PPLC is for first and second year undergraduate students who are interested in pursuing careers in public service. Conference eligibility is limited to college freshman and sophomores who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

The PPLC will take place February 23-26, 2012 at Harvard Kennedy School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  The intensive three days of workshops, panels and lectures is designed for students who possess a commitment to public service, particularly those from historically under-served communities and people of color. Conference participants will learn
about:

*      Careers in public service

*      Domestic and international policy issues

*      Fellowship programs

*      Summer public policy and international affairs institutes

*      Graduate schools that offer programs in public policy

*      Student life
